Women in Violent Relationships

In my opinion, women would still choose to stay in violent relations for various social, personal, and financial reasons. For instance, one would still forfeit own freedom and peace and stay with a violent partner for the sake of children. Society perhaps would encourage children to be raised in a family with and by both parents. Social studies have shown positive growth and development and as such forcing mothers to forgo their happiness for the well-being of the children. Moreover, mothers would be forced to stay in violent relationships due to limited financial capabilities.  Such financial fears could lead to increased emotional and physical fears, which make them remain imprisoned in domestic violence. Financial challenges threaten the ability to support children-related expenses such as upkeep and education and consequently force women to stay in abusive relationships. Furthermore, fear of isolation, which cuts across family, friends, and social class, could as well keep them trapped in violent relationships. In the long run, consistent domestic violence could lead to emotional distortion, hence destroying thoughts and consequently limiting their esteem.

As a remedy, I would suggest that society forms support groups, which assist women in recovering from violent relationships. Such groups would as well play an important role in informing them of their rights and increasing their self-esteem. Again, society could focus on women education and career-based training to ensure that they have financial security and do not to rely on their partners to meet their own and children’s expenses. Additionally, society ought to constantly emphasize self-esteem and raise all children (with no gender discrimination) with strong determination as a fundamental strategy in eliminating fears of abuse and isolation.
