Unit 8 Discussion: The Multi-Generational Workplace

TONYA’S POST:

I belong to the  GenX  generation and I have change my jobs a couple of times because I moved. My communication in the workplace I treat everyone with the most respect a lot of time I don’t understand how people can stay on the same job for over twenty plus years. But, now I am raising  my granddaughter I am understanding the reason why they stay on jobs as long. Just like with the other generation I just understand people for who they are. 

KYLIE’S POST:

I am part of Generation Z (iGen). I definitly think that being emersed in technology while growing up has a huge impact on how we approach work. I am espicially good with technology that older generations usually are not. The Faces of Change video says that GenZ knows how to self educate and I think that is such a big way on approaching work as well. I normally dont need people to train me for very long on something in the workforce due to the fact that I learn quickly and can educate myself batter than if somebody was trying to teach me. It is often hard to communicate with other generations at work, espicially for a GenZ who most believe are lazy and do not want to work. However, improving comunication within generations  would honestly be really easy if everybody collectivly agreed to not look at stereotypes of the different generations.

Hello Professor and Classmates

For me growing with GRIT is nothing new.  From the time I can remember my mom made sure I knew that to become successful all I had to do was believe in myself and to go for it.  I had to know that I could achieve anything I set my mind too.  After that all I had to do was put in the effort and never give up no matter what.  I can still hear my mom saying “You can be or do anything you want but you have to want it and work for it.”  

As for using this in school and life, I know I always have to put in the effort to do my best and then I keep going.  

MY POST TO REFER TO IN CASE NEEDED FOR RESPONSE:

My experiences in this course will enable me to succeed in my life and career. I have acquired communication and writing skills in this course. Verbal communication skills are essential in the workplace. They improve the likelihood of building relationships with the coworkers. Communication skills boost performance because they help one to get information from others clearly. One can be more productive if they have good communication skills. I have learned about communication with various individuals and the use of nonverbal communication. I will find it easy to communicate with people from various generations and cultural backgrounds. 

The writing skills I have acquired will enable me to succeed in my career. I will be able to write quality papers in my future courses. Written communication skills will also help me to succeed in the workplace. I can now communicate quickly with various people. I have gained social skills and critical thinking skills. These skills will enable me to interact with other people and solve problems. 

I plan to grow my GRIT by setting goals for daily improvements. I will increase my focus on the greater purpose and have a growth mindset. I will grow my GRIT by staying committed and visualizing my success. I will learn to be more productive and seek passion for my goals. I will not let my comfort zone hold me back. I will ensure that I have a fascination with what I will be trying to do. I will also work hard and put effort to achieve my goals.
