Delema John Baptiste

Hello Professor and Class,

I chose Article XI and Article XII. Article XI:  “Canada acceding to this confederation, and adjoining in the measures of the United States, shall be admitted into, and entitled to all the advantages of this Union; but no other colony shall be admitted into the same unless such admission is agreed to by nine States”. When considering whether or not the United States should leave the British Empire, Congress recalled a provision in the Articles of Confederation that would allow Canada to become a member of the United States. It is conceivable that the proximity of the borders, as shown on this map from 1777, would have persuaded the Canadian region to reject British rule and ally itself with the provinces. Despite this, the majority of French Canadians had doubts about the United States because it had a history of trying to conquer Canada, was infamous for insulting Catholicism—the fundamental religion of the French Canadians—and despised Canadian culture.  Mayer, H. A. (2018).

Article XII:  All bills of credit emitted, monies borrowed, and debts contracted by, or under the authority of Congress, before the assembling of the United States, in pursuance of the present confederation, shall be deemed and considered as a charge against the United States, for payment and satisfaction whereof the said United States, and the public faith is hereby solemnly pledged”. According to the Articles of Confederation, Congress is required to cover a number of expenses, but it lacks the funds to do so. The states provided financial support to Congress. They may appear ideal in comparison to the Articles of Confederation because of their lack of burden, but this is actually one of their flaws. Due to the states’ potential failure to pay the exacted amount, Congress was unable to fulfill its obligations. The Continental Congress was left without the resources necessary to meet its debts because it lacked its own source of income. Even the United States’ ability to use force was impacted by this. During the American Revolution, George Washington kept his secretaries busy by having them write letters requesting supplies and money. A few Founders and Patriots, remembering Washington’s sibling for regulation, Fielding Lewis, went bankrupt by making loans that the government couldn’t repay or by using their own money to buy supplies they needed. John Adams had to be sent to Europe by Congress in order to raise the necessary funds. No matter how much we hate doing them, duties are necessary for the government to function. g888, /. · Discuss the ratification process of the Constitution of 1787.

According to American History. (n.d.) when Congress gave the state councils the Constitution to consider using carefully selected state shows of people, the sanction interaction got underway. In a short period of time (December 1787 to January 1788) five states cast ballots endorsing the Constitution, and every single one of them had a consistent (Delaware, New Jersey, Georgia) or unbalanced vote (Pennsylvania, Connecticut). Evidently, the effective Federalists kicked off the challenge in their favor as they quickly won over five of the nine states expected to ratify the Constitution. The support for the Constitution seemed straightforward, extensive, and well-known. American History. (n.d.).
