Moment of Critical Thinking in Real Life

After taking a considerable amount of time to think and reflect on it deeply, I remembered when I was diagnosed with Sclerosis in 2015. It was the toughest period in my life; it was difficult to accept my diagnosis since other than syncope episodes and headaches I felt I was healthy and normal. After countless nights researching and reading about Sclerosis, I learned that I had some of the mentioned symptoms, which I brushed off. After the diagnosis, I have been in and out of the hospital to see my Neurologist. I have had numerous tests such as an MRI scan of my spinal cord, as well as, brain every 3-6 months. I need to know and learn various things about my disease; however, I am committed to push on and get better with time.

   After being diagnosed with sclerosis, I felt the need to sit back, think over my life, and plan what to do. I was the mother of a two-year-old daughter and a full-time working teacher. For my surgical technology, I normally went to WellSpan York Hospital. I loved their program, nevertheless, during my diagnosis process, the school administration found it hard to abide by the doctor’s terms since it required me to miss teaching, and for this reason, I got fired. I gradually became depressed for not only my disease but also being fired since that was my only source of income. After this, I thought hard and realized that I would not be able to take up the 8-11 hours a day in surgery. In addition, I felt that I would become a burden to my family and society. This was when I realized freelance writing; the work only needed me to write a few articles, and the best part of it was that the job allowed me to work from home.
