Simulation is a pedagogical concept that is used by instructional designers to achieve a safe environment for learners. To accomplish this, instructional designers apply instructional theories and models that are based on four factors; learning, support, procedure, and part-task practice. However, for this assignment, learning as a factor has been selected to assist in analyzing, and a description of how it can be applied in my project will be provided.
The process of learning requires a learner to coordinate and integrate several factors related to real-life situations. Such tasks are usually based on solving problems or reasoning to improve performance. Two major approaches can be applied in my project; the Dick and Carey design model and Hannifen Peck design model (Taylor, 2004). Dick and Carey design model is appropriate for my project because it is easy to achieve an efficient simulation environment. Use of advanced technology in learning involves first identifying the skills and behavior of the learners. Such traits can be determined through the behavioral theoretical framework (Bransford,2015). The designer will need to have a conceptual understanding of the behaviors exhibited by each student. On the other hand, Hannifen Peck design will take into consideration the objective and goals of the project. The idea is to conduct a needs analysis and use the findings to design an appropriate program that will improve learning.
The project’s primary objective is to incorporate advanced technology into a curriculum and learning environment, with the aim of revolutionizing the learning process. It will be based on three major learning domains; behavior domain, cognitive domain, and affective domain. Below is a suggested theoretical application for this project.
For instance, according to behaviorists, learning refers to a series of response and stimulus actions. Teachers serve as a modifying factor while the reinforced situations create the desired response. Meanwhile, cognitivists argue that learning is the process of processing information.
Step 1: After entering the car fasten the seatbelt. Insert the key into the ignition and until the engine starts. Step on the clutch pedal. (Attention)
Step 2: ensure the gear stick is into the first gear. Using your right foot, gently press on the accelerator. The engine will rev slightly. (Retention/ memory)
Step 3: Slowly lift the clutch pedal. Remove the handbrake. (Initiation/motor)
Step 4: increase revs and gently put your foot on the clutch. The car will start to gain motion. (Motivation)
