Technology-Based Informal Learning is More Style than Substance

The debate, whether ‘technology-based informal learning is more style than substance’, was focused on the question of whether it is necessary to control multifarious fields and professionals such as pilots, engineers, and others whose line of work involve public safety. Those who argued for the motion such as Lewis claimed that involvement of certain measures and metrics is essential, especially in the informal learning environment (“Oxford Union Debate on Informal Learning,” 2019). On the other hand, those who argued against the motion claimed that a lot of learning usually takes place in an informal setting. The argument is that it is not advisable to dismiss or marginalize the value of knowledge obtained informally. For instance, Cross claimed that both informal and formal learning usually coexist. However, questions are usually raised in a situation where such learning has been applied in the teaching and corporate learning environment inclusive of their validity. 

Reasons why certain adults do not avail themselves of adult education opportunities

There are a number of reasons as to why adults do not avail themselves to adult education and opportunities. Such reasons include unavailability of learning materials and relevant information, lack of support, diminished self-confidence, lack of enough time and energy, as well as, a negative perspective towards reentering education (Larson, & Milana, 2006). 

Strategies for post-secondary learning environment leverage

The post-secondary environment can be leveraged by;

• Construction of educational and ICT centers – availing such facilities will ensure that learning equipment and course materials are readily available to those who are socially and economically challenged in society. 
• Creation of public awareness and sensitization – several programs can be established to educate the public about the importance of education regardless of one’s age group. A sensitized society will ensure that those who would like to seize opportunities and education can do it freely without lacking any confidence or viewing the issue in a negative way.
