This article evaluates the environmental impacts of cleaning agents and their role in contributing to health issues facing human beings. The author is a scholar in the field of botany and she relies on empirical research to develop findings on the issue. The author explains that cleaning agents contain chemicals that cause indoor pollution if inhaled. Additionally, the cleaning products are also poisonous if they are ingested and harmful if touched or inhaled. The article backs up these views with research findings, which reveals that 20% of janitors receive burns to the skin or eyes because of cleaning agents while another 12% face adverse health effects due to inhaling fumes from these chemicals. The author provides tips that people should use when purchasing cleaning agents so that they may minimize adverse health effects that they are exposed to. This journal article evaluates the impacts of chemical household products on the health of children. The authors rely on findings from empirical research, which makes the research credible and valid. Specifically, they conduct research on parents and children through the use of a longitudinal research approach regarding the use of 11 chemical-based cleaning products.  Their research findings showed that the increased frequency of use of cleaning products led to persistent wheezing in children. Additionally, children who were born to mothers who were exposed to cleaning agents during pregnancy were also twice as likely to wheeze as compared to children whose mothers were not exposed to these chemicals. The findings show that pregnant mothers and children should reduce exposure to health products since the chemicals in them adversely affect their health and cause wheezing. The researchers conduct research seeking to investigate patterns in exposure to such chemicals and effective strategies that can mitigate against such exposure. They use a meta-analysis of journal studies on exposure of human beings to toxic chemicals found in the everyday products used at home. Their findings reveal that strategies such as consumer advocacy, individual behavioral changes, and corporate responsibility can effectively reduce human exposure to harmful chemicals in household cleaners and other home products. This article will be essential for the research since it provides potential solutions to the problem being addressed – the hazards of household cleaners. By implementing the recommendations made by the authors in this article, humans can significantly reduce their risk of exposure to harmful chemicals from household cleaners and other home products.
