Evidence based practice in improving patient care in a clinical setting

Evidence based practice is essential in improving patient care in clinical setting. Evidence based is a set of elements used to support the confirmation or denial of a particular theory or scientific hypothesis (Jensen-Doss 177). For evidence based evidence it is necessary that there be research carried out within scientific precepts – and this research must be replicable by other scientists in places other than where it was originally carried out. Currently, one has the idea that health status is a dynamic function within individuals, because in physiotherapy the volume of knowledge is increasing.

For a long time, literary health information was based only on books and magazines of library collections, which were often outdated and developed health professionals a hallmark feature of cake recipes, without allowing at least them make decisions (diagnosis/treatment) for cases that would arise during their careers (Mazurek). The Evidence-Based Practice has a broader perspective that encompasses the views of patients and is based on the clinical practitioner’s experience of clinical decision-making alongside the role of evidence from research.

Today it is possible to observe the great step in improving patient care in a clinical setting that has been taken in relation to freedom of information, diagnosis and treatment. Clinical practice is intimately grounded in research and more and more professionals are interested in research and its results; they want to get the best diagnoses and treatments in order to achieve the best way for the patient to recover and have the best quality of life possible, even with their limitations. For (Cipriani and Furukawa 2), evidence for palliative care interventions through published articles allows physicians and health professionals to understand, evaluate, interpret, and implement current outcomes in practical situations. 

Thus, the practice of evidence-based physical therapy reveals how it is fundamental for the enhancement and growth of the profession, improving the quality of care, patient satisfaction, and reduction of treatment costs. Since it is a differentiated professional in the market means conducting effective behaviors for their patients and for that, having access to the best scientific evidence is extremely necessary.
