While output is the primary purpose of the warehouse team, it is critical to pay attention to the fact that the modern workplace has changed (Souba & Souba, 2018). Instead of investing in production, the Human resource department should consider paying more attention to the needs of workers when it comes to leadership.
The successful present-day leader is one that decisive, challenges the company to keep ideas flowing, and one that is insightful (Moran, 2015). The requirements that were in the announcement for a new manager reflect on the 1990’s kind of leaders. Due to change in business dynamics, modern leaders are able to identify opportunities before the competition. They can take information from all sides and spot new directions (Moran, 2015). Therefore, Biotech needs not only a leader that can drive sales but also a person that can go against competition, as well as, weaknesses.
According to the great man, the trait theory identifies the fact that people with in-born characteristics are the most suitable for leadership and will make better leaders (Dussault & Frenette, 2015). Therefore, the suggestion is to search for the right combination of traits that would create an effective administration of Biotech. The kind of leader that the company was seeking in the previous announcement is an autocratic-one that will be in charge of all decision making. In the workplace, people have become more involved as team players and such a leader will attract frown because of the view of dictatorship.
To sum it up, this memo highlights the need to have a transformational leader who will be willing to work with the rest of the team members to drive production and sales in the warehouse (Dussault & Frenette, 2015). The leader should be able to engage with others and create a connection that will build the level of motivation and morality that Biotech needs. The company should be looking for an individual who will raise consciousness about the significance of Biotech values and goals. They should inspire workers to exploit their self-interest for the sake of the organization. Lastly, it is important to point out that the type of leader biotech is looking for should compel followers to address higher-level needs.
