This source contains the bibliography of the live of Henrik Ibsen. It is written detailing his birthplace in Norway, his upbringing in a middle class family and his entry into the working environment at a young age. He started working early and at one point tried to run a theatre but failed miserably. However, his failure opened him up to an opportunity to go to Italy where his playwright skills were honed. This resource is helpful in making the comparison between the characters in, “A Doll’s House,” and Ibsen’s personal life. His source is credible, as it has a constant and verifiable account of the life of Henrik.

Henrik Ibsen was accused of attempting to destabilize the Victorian times with his controversial way of writing. His work gave people the power to see when they were being oppressed yet the government and the conservative members of society did not want it to be known. He tackled social issues without fear and at some point ended up in politics. This source is important in the analysis, as it helps identify the history of the times during which the book was written. This source is credible as it has been thoroughly researched and written.

This is the play to which Henrik Ibsen’s life is being compared. The play is a narration of the lives of Nora and Torvald, who are married and live in a conservative marriage setting. The wife is considered inferior to her husband and when she used her power to save his life, she is faulted for it. When the issue surrounding her social disobedience is solved, she refused to forgive her husband and leaves their home. This source is important as it provides a basis on which to compare Henrik Ibsen’s life. It also helps determine how much his life influenced his work. It is a credible source because it is Ibsen’s work that has been translated and not altered in any way.
